YorkWorks
YorkWorks is the careers branch of
the Club of PEP. Its main specialty is its careers conferences–
evening events where 3-4 attractive graduate employers are invited to
come, speak and introduce themselves to the students of York. The firms
deliver a presentation followed by a networking session where students
can collect promotional material and speak to the company representatives
first hand. The concept appears popular, pioneered only last year with
150 students attending the first event and the networking session lasing
long after the last company presentation finished!
YorkWorks have also hosted sector specific
events, such as LawWorks in June 2011 attended by Clifford Chance, Freshfields,
Addleshaw Goddard, BP Law School and College of Law. Occasionally YorkWorks
also invites speakers who can inspire and encourage students’ career
aspirations. YorkWorks aims to provide a platform for students to meet
with experts and industry insiders to learn about the world of work
and find out more about a career path that interests them.
YorkWorks collaborate with the University
Careers Service, but we primarily tailor our events to the
interests of PEP students.
